We completed the structural framing and insulation for this basement renovation project in Wellington. Our work involved installing vertical wood studs to define the new living areas and framing out a dedicated egress window opening. We ensured the perimeter was properly sealed by installing white vapor barriers and paper-faced insulation batts across the exterior walls to improve thermal performance and moisture control. The egress window installation featured a horizontal sliding unit that looks out into a durable corrugated metal window well. We filled the base of the well with loose gravel to facilitate efficient drainage away from the foundation. These improvements provide essential fire safety access and natural light, creating a solid foundation for the remaining interior finishes.
