Retrofitting Drainage Board into an Existing Drain Tile System
James had a functioning drain tile system, but mold was forming, and the walls were wet. We had a feeling that whomever installed the original system, they missed something. We found drainageboard that had gaps in it where water could sneak through, and also noted that not every cavity was drilled. While they did drill each core of each block, they missed the mortar seam that joined the blocks. The flanges on the ends of a block connect to form an additional core, and they must be drilled! Needless to say, this system has been optimized and they can rest easy that their basement will stay dry moving forward.
