Wine Cellar Bathroom
We added a custom-made wine barrel surrounded by a leathered granite countertop. The hammered copper sink and oil-rubbed bronze faucet became the focal point for the selection of the other materials. Our talented mason took special care to lay the handmade sand mold bricks, featuring a sweeping mortar joint in order to add to the wine cellar atmosphere. We engaged an artist to create the faux rough plaster and soiled looking finish on the walls. She used three colors of paint to achieve the desired effect. We selected porcelain tile with the appearance of rustic wood planks for the floor. The tile gave the room the chill of a cellar yet the old world feel and warmth of wood. The oak trim, chosen for its rough grain texture, and existing door were faux painted to match the look of the floor tile. Lantern light fixtures with an oil rubbed bronze finish from Kichler’s Rustic Collection rounded out the look along with a hand-forged metal framed mirror.
