Some homes have one simple roof. Others are made up of multiple roof sections, varying elevations, and rooftop equipment that require careful planning before any restoration can begin. This project in La Jolla involved restoring several low-slope roof sections across the property using a Uniflex silicone roof coating system. Because solar panels covered portions of the roof, selected panels were temporarily removed to provide access to the roofing system beneath them. Restoring the roof before reinstalling the solar helps protect one of the areas that would otherwise be difficult to access in the future. Each roof section was thoroughly cleaned and prepared before the restoration process began. Seams, penetrations, and transitions were reinforced where needed before applying Uniflex silicone roof coating at a rate of 3 gallons per roofing square, creating a seamless waterproof membrane designed to withstand years of sun exposure and ponding water. Silicone restoration is often an excellent alternative to a complete roof replacement when the existing roof remains structurally sound. Applying the coating at the proper coverage rate is one of the most important parts of the installation because the finished thickness directly affects the system's long-term performance and warranty. Although the roof was divided into many smaller sections, each one received the same attention to preparation and application, creating a complete restoration system across the entire property.
