Point Loma, San Diego, CA | Shingle Roof Replacement & Skylight Installation
Replacing a roof is one thing. Replacing a large skylight on a steep roof requires even more planning and precision. For this project in Point Loma, we replaced the existing steep-slope roofing system with Owens Corning Duration Cool® Mountainside architectural shingles while also installing a new Solar Industries curb-mounted skylight. Because of the roof's steep pitch, our crew used roof brackets and toe boards to safely access the work area throughout the installation. Proper safety measures not only protect the crew but also allow the roofing system and skylight to be installed with the attention to detail they require. The new curb-mounted skylight was integrated into the roofing system using proper flashing methods to help create a watertight transition between the skylight and the new roof. Skylights are one of the most common areas for roof leaks, making proper installation and flashing just as important as the roofing materials themselves. Every roof presents its own challenges, and this project is a great example of how the right materials, careful planning, and proper installation come together to create a complete roofing system built to perform.
