This project in Santee involved replacing an aging low-slope patio roof that had reached the end of its service life. Although the roof covered a relatively small area, it plays an important role in protecting the outdoor living space and preventing water from reaching the structure below. After removing the existing roofing materials, the roof deck was inspected and any deteriorated plywood was replaced where needed to provide a solid foundation for the new roofing system. Once the deck was prepared, we installed a Johns Manville DIBITEN APP modified bitumen torch-down roofing system designed specifically for low-slope applications. Unlike steep-slope roofs that quickly shed water, low-slope roofs depend on a continuous waterproof membrane. Every seam, flashing, and transition must be properly heat-welded and sealed to keep moisture from finding its way beneath the roofing system. That's why proper preparation is just as important as the finished installation. Whether it's a full commercial roof or a small patio cover, the same installation principles apply. Building a complete roofing system with quality materials and careful workmanship helps maximize the roof's service life and provides reliable protection for years to come.
