We repaired a major chimney leak on this Temecula tile roof caused by a poor original roof design where the chimney was built directly in a roof valley. Valleys naturally carry large amounts of water, and placing a chimney in this location is a common source of premature leak damage if not properly waterproofed. Our team removed the surrounding concrete roof tiles and opened the affected section to inspect the roof deck and identify the source of water intrusion. We installed new Titanium PSU peel-and-stick underlayment in the critical valley and chimney transition areas for added waterproofing protection. We also upgraded the valley metal, installed a new custom chimney saddle cricket to help divert water properly around the chimney, and replaced the existing tile pan metal with a new 8-inch tile pan system. This repair focused on correcting weak points in the original installation while reinforcing one of the most vulnerable areas of the roofing system. The updated flashing and waterproofing details will help provide improved drainage and long-term leak protection around the chimney and valley area.
