This one was personal. Our client is a hardworking Mom who wanted a true sanctuary, a space of her own to unwind and let the day fall away the moment she walks in. She told us she wanted it to feel like a spa, so we set out to turn a dated, closed off bathroom into a calm, spa inspired retreat built entirely around how she wanted to feel at the end of a long day. We started by taking the room back to the studs, removing the old jetted tub and its tile surround, the tired one piece shower, worn flooring, and the rest of the dated finishes, then rebuilt the space with a cleaner, more restful layout. At the heart of the retreat is a freestanding soaking tub with a graceful wall mount filler, the kind of quiet spot that turns a long soak into a getaway. Beside it, we built a fully tiled walk in shower with a custom niche, a low profile shower pan, and a sleek glass door, all set behind a full waterproofing system so it holds up beautifully for years. Large format tile flows throughout the space, which keeps everything feeling open and cohesive while staying easy to clean and simple to maintain. We even ran the baseboards in tile, a detail that looks polished and adds another layer of protection, keeping water off the drywall for even better durability. Crisp metal edge profiles finish the tile for a clean, tailored look. Every plumbing fixture was chosen with intention, pieces that are as practical to use as they are beautiful, all in a warm matte black that grounds the palette. We painted the vanity in a calm, soft green that sets the whole mood of the room, carried it through to a matching cabinet in the water closet, and finished both with new hardware. Fresh paint on the walls, ceiling, doors, and trim pulls it all together. A wide vanity light on dimmable controls gives a bright, flattering glow, and a new comfort height toilet adds everyday ease. Behind the scenes we handled the important, unglamorous pieces too, a new subfloor, moisture resistant drywall, a fresh exhaust fan, updated outlets and switches, and new water shut offs. The result is exactly what she asked for, a peaceful, put together space that truly feels like hers. Whether she is easing into the morning or finally exhaling after a long day, this is the room she gets to slip away to.
