π‘π₯ Overcoming Constraints with Smart Design
π‘π₯ Project Spotlight | Overcoming Constraints with Smart Design This week we completed a bespoke air source heat pump installation at a beautiful York stone property in West Yorkshire, just north of Leeds πΏβ¨ What made this project particularly interesting wasnβt just the age and character of the property, but the planning restrictions that required the heat pump to be located a significant distance away from the house. To overcome this, we installed pre-insulated, low-loss heating pipework routed underground, running approximately 15 metres from the heat pump location to where it discreetly enters the property. This ensured no measurable heat loss, while fully complying with planning requirements β proving that with the right design, restrictions donβt have to be roadblocks. βοΈ System highlights: Heat pump positioned remotely to satisfy planning constraints Underground pre-insulated flow & return pipework Minimal visual impact on a stunning heritage home Due to roof orientation, shading issues, and the age of the roof structure, solar PV wasnβt suitable for this property. Instead, we installed 10 kW of battery storage, allowing the customer to: π Charge on cheap overnight smart tariffs β‘ Release that low-cost energy throughout the day π Run the heat pump efficiently without solar panels This project is a perfect example of how there is always a solution. With the right experience, creativity, and engineering, renewable heating can be integrated into almost any home in the UK β no matter the age, location, or planning challenges. Another fantastic outcome and another happy homeowner π
