Custom "S" Shape Stair Handrails – Entryway Transformation – Baltimore, MD
For this project in Baltimore, we focused on creating a high-end, custom look for a residential front entrance. The design features a pair of approximately 6-foot iron railings with a distinct, smooth "S" shape curve that brings a unique architectural character to the home’s exterior. Craftsmanship & Material Details: Structural Profile: The main framing for the posts and top handrail consists of 1" x 6" Hot Rolled A-36 Steel Flat bar. Custom Upgrade: We also integrated a 3/4" x 6" flat bar section designed specifically to transition from the top handrail down to the edge of the property's marble stone for a flush, seamless fit. Signature Finish: The entire system was finished with a satin architectural powder coat (Azzurro 307 from Tiger Drylac), ensuring the steel is protected against the elements while maintaining a sophisticated look. Functional Features: Each railing includes a custom black rectangular wall flange for secure attachment and integrated small loops at the bottom specifically designed for attaching lockboxes. This job really shows how custom fabrication can solve specific on-site challenges—like matching the thickness of a marble stone ledge—while providing the kind of durability and style you just can't get with standard railing kits. It's a great example of the specialized residential ironwork we do for our clients across Maryland, DC, and Virginia.
