Capitol Iron Works completed the fabrication and installation of a custom steel railing for a residential project located at Gallatin Place Northeast, Washington, DC. Design Style: Modern design featuring clean, horizontal lines to create an open and airy feel. Structural Components: All posts are constructed from 1" square steel tubes, providing a slim yet structurally sound frame. Infill Detail: The balusters consist of 1/2" square bars (horizontal pickets) for a sleek, contemporary look. Top Rail: Finished with a 1/2" x 2" steel flat bar for a comfortable, low-profile grip. Finish: Finished in a Conventional Black Paint for a timeless, matte appearance. The client needed a modern safety solution that wouldn't visually "close off" the room. By switching to a horizontal picket design, we maximized the sightlines of the interior while providing a durable, high-end steel upgrade that complements the home's architecture.
