Modern Horizontal Steel Railings – Front Entry Renovation – Washington, DC
Capitol Iron Works completed the fabrication and installation of custom steel railings for a residential front entry project located on Locust Rd NW, Washington, DC. This project involved replacing 24 linear feet of existing exterior ironwork with a sleek, updated design. Design Style: Modern design featuring clean horizontal lines to enhance the home's curb appeal. Structural Components: The framework consists of heavy-duty 1-1/2" Hot Rolled A-36 Steel Square posts for maximum stability. The top rail is crafted from 1-1/2" x 3/4" Rectangle Steel Tubing for a comfortable, low-profile grip. Infill Detail: The horizontal infill bars are made from 1/2" Hot Rolled A-36 Steel Square bars, creating a contemporary linear aesthetic. Finish: The entire system is finished in a Satin Black Powder Coat for superior weather resistance and long-lasting durability against the elements. The Problem We Solved: The client needed to replace aging, traditional exterior iron railings that had become dated. We provided a modern structural solution that opened up the front entry's appearance while maintaining strict safety standards for the six-section installation. This project is a great example of our custom metalwork capabilities in the Maryland, DC, and Virginia area. From structural integrity to ornamental design, our Gaithersburg-based shop delivers precision results tailored to each client's needs.
