Capitol Iron Works completed the fabrication and installation of custom steel exterior railings for a project located at 16501 Shady Grove Road in Gaithersburg, MD. This project involved a precise build based on client-provided architectural drawings to ensure a perfect fit for the property's front and side elevations. Design Style: Traditional design featuring standard vertical pickets for a timeless, clean look. Structural Components: The framework is built for maximum stability using 1” solid square steel posts. The top rail features a high-end steel channel paired with a molding cap rail for a comfortable grip and polished aesthetic. Infill Detail: The balusters consist of ½” solid square pickets, offering a sturdy, "standard picket" style that complements any exterior. Finish: Finished with a conventional black paint finish to provide a classic look and essential weather protection. The client needed a high-quality, durable exterior safety solution that matched the specific dimensions of their architectural plans. We fabricated approximately 14’-3 ¾” of total guardrail (covering the front and side) plus an additional 11’-2 ½” railing for the west elevation steps, ensuring full perimeter safety and consistent curb appeal.
