A full-system rebuild with custom metalwork and four new skylights. We started with a full tear-off, removed an old rusted HVAC pipe and boarded over the opening, then replaced all three bathroom exhaust vents — properly ducted with foil tape and clamps, the way they should have been the first time. The roof was rebuilt with the complete Owens Corning system: Grace ice and water barrier on all eaves, valleys and penetrations, OC Deck Defense synthetic underlayment, and TruDefinition Duration shingles in Williamsburg Gray, all installed to Platinum Preferred Warranty standards. Ventilation was balanced with VentSure ridge vent and intake vents above the front door (the rest of the home has cathedral ceilings, so we adapted the design accordingly). For the high-risk areas, we upgraded beyond standard shingle detailing — black metal valleys throughout, and black metal snow belt panels along the back of the house, both installed over Grace high-temperature ice and water shield to handle heavy water and snow loads. We also swapped four aging skylights for new Velux fixed units with solar shades, fully re-flashed with Velux flashing kits and ice and water barrier around the deck. A section of rotted fascia and shadow board along the back of the house was replaced with PVC so it doesn't rot again. The result: lifetime materials warranty, 50 years on workmanship, 130 mph wind coverage, premium metal detailing where it matters, and a roof system rebuilt to handle New England weather long term.
