Structural Tree Cabling and Bracing Installation in Bellevue, WA

May 2026

This structural tree cabling and bracing project in Bellevue, WA involved installing supplemental support systems in a mature multi-stem tree exhibiting signs of structural weakness and stem separation. Our ISA Certified Arborists installed a dynamic tree support system using a 1/4-inch galvanized steel cable with Tight Grip cable stoppers in the upper canopy to reduce excessive movement and help redistribute load forces during high wind and storm events common in the Puget Sound region. To reinforce the lower union and help mitigate the risk of further splitting, we also installed a 1/2-inch threaded steel brace rod with washers and nuts through the lower stem attachment point. The combination of steel cabling and through-rod bracing helps preserve mature trees that may otherwise require removal due to structural defects such as included bark, codominant stems, or trunk separation. Special care was taken to work around existing landscape features and decorative hardscape elements while minimizing disturbance to the surrounding root zone and planting beds. This tree preservation project helps extend the functional lifespan of the tree while improving safety for nearby outdoor living spaces, structures, and occupants.
