Project Spotlight: Upgrading Rotted Wood Fence Posts to Lifetime Steel

May 2026

A leaning or wobbly fence is usually a sign of one major culprit: rotted wood posts. Because wood sits directly in the damp ground, it’s only a matter of time before moisture and insects take their toll, compromising your entire fence line. We recently tackled a project where the fence panels were still in great shape, but the structural wood posts had completely rotted out at the base. Instead of replacing the whole fence—which would cost thousands—we performed a targeted structural upgrade using Master Halco PostMaster® steel posts. Why We Use PostMaster Steel Posts Indestructible Strength: They are made of heavy-duty, galvanized steel that won't rot, warp, or twist. Wind Resistant: Engineered to withstand high winds, giving your fence incredible stability. Hidden Design: They are easily covered by wood pickets, meaning you get the strength of steel without losing the classic look of a wood fence. Longevity: These posts easily outlast traditional wood, saving you money on future repairs. Clear, Upfront Pricing We believe in transparency—no hidden fees, no guessing games. For this project, we charged $225 per post. This flat-rate price covers everything: Detaching the existing fence panels. Digging out the old, rotted wood post and concrete base. Setting the new heavy-duty metal PostMaster in a deep, fresh concrete footing.
