Not every leak can be fixed with another repair. When we inspected this roof, we found that asphalt shingles had been installed over an existing tar and gravel roof. Because the roof slope was too low for a shingle roofing system, water wasn't draining properly, which led to ongoing leaks. Previous repair attempts using silicone coating on the shingles also failed because silicone isn't designed to be applied over asphalt shingles as a long-term roofing solution. We removed the existing roofing materials and installed a new Johns Manville two-layer torch-applied modified bitumen roofing system, providing a durable waterproof membrane designed specifically for low-slope roofs. Choosing the right roofing system for the roof's pitch is just as important as installing it correctly.
