Asphalt Shingle Reroof and Skylight Replacement in Los Gatos
Engineered for California's Mountain Climate Not every roof is designed to withstand the extreme conditions found near the summit of the Santa Cruz Mountains. This unique octagonal residence in Loma Prieta was experiencing active leaks, severe rust, dry-rotted eaves, and an unvented attic system that turned the home into an oven during warm weather. With wind speeds exceeding 100 mph and heavy seasonal rains, a standard reroof simply wasn't enough. Our solution was to engineer an entirely new roofing system designed for long-term performance. ✔️ Removed the existing metal roof and repaired structural dry rot ✔️ Designed a continuous intake and exhaust ventilation system to improve airflow and reduce attic temperatures ✔️ Installed an elevated roof assembly with radiant barrier OSB to create a ventilated air space beneath the new roof ✔️ Protected the entire structure with CertainTeed Vycor® HT Ice & Water Shield, providing premium waterproofing backed by a 50-year manufacturer's material warranty ✔️ Installed CertainTeed Landmark® Premium shingles using a six-fastener high-wind installation, along with additional rubberized asphalt adhesive for maximum wind resistance ✔️ Completed the system with RidgeHawk® hip vents, CertainTeed ShingleVent® II ridge ventilation, and Shadow Ridge® cap shingles for balanced airflow and a finished appearance The result is a roof engineered to withstand one of California's most demanding mountain environments while dramatically improving the home's comfort and energy efficiency. At Eastman Roofing, we believe the best roofing systems do more than stop leaks—they solve underlying problems, improve building performance, and provide lasting protection for decades to come. #EastmanRoofing #RoofingExcellence #RoofReplacement #HighWindRoofing #CertainTeed #VentilationMatters #EnergyEfficiency #SantaCruzMountains #CaliforniaRoofing #RoofingContractor #BuildingPerformance #QualityCraftsmanship
