This front porch and walkway had seen better days. The existing concrete was chipped and cracked, and it had been covered with a light blue paint that was peeling away and becoming extremely slippery when wet. The homeowners wanted a solution that would not only improve the appearance of the space, but also provide better durability and traction throughout Nebraska’s changing seasons. We started by mechanically diamond grinding the concrete to remove the failing paint and properly prepare the surface for the new coating system. From there, we installed a double-broadcast quartz system designed to provide exceptional durability and a more textured finish. The additional texture helps improve traction during rain, snow, and icy winter conditions, making it a great option for exterior concrete surfaces like porches, walkways, and patios. To finish the system, we applied two protective topcoats for added durability and long-term protection from foot traffic, moisture, and outdoor exposure. The result was a complete transformation from worn-out, slippery concrete to a clean, durable, and functional surface built for year-round use. This project is a great example of how the right concrete coating system can dramatically improve both the appearance and performance of an exterior space.
