A spilled energy drink left a dull, etched spot on this homeowner’s fairly new marble kitchen countertop. After struggling to find someone who could restore it and being told replacement was necessary, she contacted Cornerstone Hard Surface Restoration. We refinished the affected stone and corrected the etching without replacing the countertop. Acidic drinks can react with marble and alter its surface finish. The resulting dull spot is etching, not simply a stain or residue that can be wiped away. That’s why ordinary cleaning won’t bring the shine back. The good news? Etched marble doesn’t automatically need replacement. Professional stone refinishing can often correct the affected surface, depending on the depth and condition of the damage. Before replacing your marble, have it evaluated by a stone-restoration professional. Cornerstone Hard Surface Restoration provides marble countertop restoration and etch repair in Orange Beach and throughout Baldwin County.
